Nowshera is a small town and cantonment near the Peshawar District of the North West Frontier Province. It is situated on the right bank of the Kabul river 27 miles east of Peshawar. The population of this small town was 9,518 (1901 census). It is a place which acts as a junction for the frontier railway that runs to the station of Mardan and continues to Dargai and Malakand on the route to Chitral.
Cherat is also known as Saleh Khana. It is located in the footsteps of Cherat Cantonment to the south east of Peshawar. The name derives from the Saleh Khana small mountainous area that is located 17 km south of Pabbi town on the Peshawar Islamabad Highway near Jalozai village. Most of the people of Cherat have one or two family members abroad in different countries so the people of this small town are generally well off.
