North Waziristan covers an area of 1,817 square miles. Both mahsuds, entirely in south waziristan and wazirs are derwesh khels. The north waziristan wazirs are utmanzai of which the major sections are wali khel, momit khel and ibrahim khel. Some 50,000 daurs constitute an important minor tribe of the agency and are said to be the original inhabitants. The headquarters are at Miran Shah. Major C.A. Smith was the first political agent in 1910. North and south waziristan have been the scene of fierce battles with the british and the legendary faqir of ipi, Mirza Ali Khan, A tori khel wazir, conducted his major encounters with the british in this region. His headquarters in the caves of Gurwekht gained international fame.
House of Tochi Scouts raised in June 1900 by Captain A. Ferguson Davie at Idak, the fort became the HQs of the corps when power was transferred here in 1904. At the time of its raising, the militia consisted of 50 mounted infantry and 800 infantry.
This is a remote area, situated along the Pak-Afghan border, in the North-Waziristan Agency. Faqir of Ipi (RA) had his headquarters here, where weapons and ammunition were manufactured and stored in caves. A printing machine was also available. Faqir of Ipi (RA) died here and his mazar (shrine) is visited by devotees and freedom lovers in great numbers.
This famous village is situated near Mir Ali in North Waziristan Agency. A great Saint Warrior Hazrat Mirza Ali Khan, Faqir (RA) of Ipi belonged to the village. He led an armed struggle against the British for many years in nineteen thirties and forties. The British suffered heavy losses during their expeditions against him.
