Born in 1943 in Sarai village, District Mansehra, Abdul Malik matriculated in 1960 and then enrolled in Jamia Ashrafia, Lahore for religious studies. He joined the Jamaat-e-Islami in 1968 and subsequently taught Hadith for many years at Faisalabad's Madrassah Ishaatul Uloom. He is currently a Sheikhul Hadith wal-Quran at the JI's Jamia Markaz Uloom Islamia in Mansura, Lahore. He is a member of the UK based Islamic Mission as well as the Islamic Cultural Centre in Norway. He visited Saudi Arabia in 1996 on the invitation of the Rabita Aalam Islami and was also a member of the Ulema Peace Mission which attempted reconciliation amongst Afghanistan's warring Mujahideen factions.
