In December 2002 the United Nations Development Programme Country Office for Afghanistan commissioned a report on the language support required for Pashto and Dari, Afghanistan’s official languages. The project was successful in collecting information for a number of other languages of Afghanistan as well, namely, Southern Uzbek, Hazaragi, Aimaq, Southwest Pashai, Western Balochi, Turkmen and Brahui.
