Sray Karhay Charga
(Tandoori Chicken)
Mandatory Items:
- Any number of Chicken Pieces ... Depends really on how big your oven is.
- Oil
- Salt
Optional Items:
- Lemon Juice
- Any Masala (We used Tandoori Chicken masala .. available from Asian shops)
- Aluminium Foil
- Yogurt
Procedure:
- Separate the Chicken Pieces and wash them properly
- Using a sharp knife, make deep cuts on both sides of the chicken pieces
- Sprinkle Salt, and Masala (according to taste) on the chicken and rub
everything in properly. (For beginners, we used 3 tablespoons of Masala, and 1
tablespoon of salt for 3 pieces of chicken)
- Put Yogurt and Lemon juice on top of the chicken and mix it properly.
Leave it like that for at least one hour in a covered dish.
- Heat up the oven in the meantime.
- Cover the Oven tray with Aluminium Foil and moisten the surface of the
foil with oil.
- Once the oven is heated up, put the chicken neatly on the tray. Once you
do that, pour the remaining yogurt and lemon juice on top of it and spread it
out. Cover the tray with Aluminium foil as well and put in the oven.
- There is no time frame. You just have to keep on looking at the chicken
from time to time. We suggest that after half an hour, you go and remove the
Aluminium Foil Covering and turn the chicken over once. Then put it back in
the oven without the foil cover.
- Keep on heating until the chicken is red in colour. The total average time
for completely cooking this should be 40 minutes.
- Some people like to dry up all of the lemon juice, yogurt, and water that
is there in the tray. Other people like to separate it and drink it separately
like "Yakhni".
That's it ... Enjoy your Sray Karhay Charga ... We loved it
